The Talamanca Hummingbird is about 13 cm (5.1 in) long. The Talamanca Hummingbird is larger than most hummingbirds. It stands out because of its size. The males are mostly green, but their heads appear black until light hits them and reveals a shiny purple crown and a turquoise throat.
