About the species:
The Fiery-throated hummingbird is easily recognizable with its vibrant colors on the throat and breast. In dim lighting, it may be confused with similar large hummingbirds like the Talamanca Hummingbird. Watch out for a tail that is dark blue-black, a medium-length bill with a pink base, and a blue rump. Both males and females look the same. You can find them in mountain forests and edges, typically between 1500m to the treeline. They are often seen at feeders.
