Hummingbird Conservation
Conservation Through My Lens

My journey to photograph the hummingbirds of the Americas has become about far more than creating photographs. Along the way, I have encountered species with populations measured in the hundreds, and in some cases only dozens, making the threats facing these extraordinary birds impossible for me to ignore.

Photography gives me an opportunity to document these species and share their stories, but I believe it should also help inspire action. Through personal contributions, proceeds from Endangered Hummingbirds: Seeing the Crisis Through My Lens, conservation partnerships, and the support of others who have joined these efforts, I am committed to helping protect hummingbirds and the habitats they depend upon.

I also serve on the Board of Directors of the International Hummingbird Society and its Conservation Committee, where I have the opportunity to work alongside others dedicated to advancing hummingbird conservation throughout the Americas.

This page brings together the conservation projects I support, the species at the center of those efforts, and updates from work taking place on the ground. From the Chilean Woodstar and Santa Marta Sabrewing to the Juan Fernández Firecrown and the species we hope to help next, these stories document both the urgency of the challenges and the progress being made.

Because seeing what we could lose is only the beginning. The real goal is helping protect what remains.
