Endangered Hummingbirds Wins Multiple Outstanding Creator Awards

I’m honored to share that Endangered Hummingbirds: Seeing the Crisis Through My Lens received multiple recognitions in the Outstanding Creator Awards, including several 1st Place honors.

The book received:

  • Best Non-Fiction Book of Spring 2026 — 1st Place

  • Educational & Reference Books — 1st Place

  • Animal Literature / Animal Media — 1st Place

  • Photography — 1st Place

In addition, the book was also recognized in the special awards categories for:

  • Best Research

  • Best Quote / Best Passage

Honorable Mentions:

"Rediscovery opens a door, but only active protection keeps it from closing." / “Their survival depends on more than just research and policy. It depends on awareness, which grows when people can see what they stand to lose. Photography gives these species a voice when their numbers are too small to speak.”

What makes these recognitions especially meaningful is the breadth of categories acknowledged. The awards recognized not only the photography but also the research, educational value, conservation message, and writing itself.

The Outstanding Creator Awards recognize literary and creative works across a wide range of disciplines, honoring projects that demonstrate originality, passion, craftsmanship, and impact.

I created Endangered Hummingbirds to document species living on increasingly fragile margins and to connect photography with conservation awareness in a way that felt both accessible and honest. To see the work recognized across multiple categories is deeply meaningful.

I’m grateful for this recognition and for everyone who continues to support the book and the conservation mission behind it.

$5 from every book sold supports hummingbird conservation efforts.
